The Power Of Thrifting Patience

If you’ve ever gone to a thrift store searching for a specific item, you know how laborious and time-consuming it can be. Before shopping second-hand became my job, I’d often give up and leave with nothing.

But, if you’re willing to stick with it, the hunt almost always yields success.

Here are a few things to consider when thrifting for specifics:

Expect Distraction: Let’s use Goodwill as an example here. Everything under the sun is under a Goodwill roof. It can be paralyzing for many – so we recommend you prepare your brain for overwhelmingness.

Stay Focused: You walk in looking for an orange-cropped cardigan sweater. Go to sweaters > Only filter through the color orange > Check waist length first and go from there.

Ask: There are tons of clothes that have not been set out yet. It never hurts to ask an employee if they’ve seen what you’re looking for!

Plan To Visit Two Or More Stores: If at first you don’t succeed, head to the next thrift store on your list and repeat.

Don’t Give Up: The hunt is worth it. It may take a couple of days but when you finally find what you want it’s an amazing feeling!

Consider Online Shopping: If after reading through these tips you’re still thinking it’s too much of a hassle, it’s okay! Thrifting isn’t for everyone, even if it’s something you want to be a part of. That’s why we’re here! We love searching for you. And our hope is it makes thrifting more accessible and enjoyable.

Reward Yourself: Okay, this isn’t technically a thrifting tip but, WHY NOT?!! You did it! You endured and persevered and found your piece – Grab an ice cream!
